If you are still on the fence about Blinkist, check out our in-depth Blinkist review for more information on the book summary service.
Table of Contents
In this Blinkist guide, I’ll walk you through how to sign up, manage, and cancel your Blinkist subscription. Feel free to use the table of contents above to jump to a specific section.
Quick Intro: What is Blinkist?
Blinkist is a service that takes books (typically non-fiction) and distills them into a handful (5-7) of key insights (they call them key ideas). You can either read the summaries of each Blink or listen to them as an audio version. Blinkist also offers Guides and Shortcasts. More about those in a bit.
Blinkist currently has more than 6,500 summaries of non-fiction books and podcasts in their Blinkist Library, but only 27 fiction books (with most of them falling under the speculative fiction genre).
New titles (about 40-70) are added monthly.

How to Sign Up for Blinkist
Step 1
Click on the button below to be directed to Blinkist’s sign-up wizard:
Step 2
Follow the initial onboarding prompts:
- Set up your goal
- Select your age
- When do you read books or listen to podcasts?
- How long do you spend on books & podcasts each day?
Blinkist then asks, “What are you interested in?” Here, you can select up to 27 categories to help Blinkist recommend more relevant books.
Next, Blinist will have you give a 👎 or 👍 to various books to better refine your interests.
Finally, Blinkist creates your curated list of initial books. You then choose between an annual ($99/year) or monthly ($15.99/month) subscription plan. If you choose the annual premium plan, you will receive access to a seven-day free trial.
Step 3
Enter your payment details (and promo codes if you have any) to get started. Now you are officially signed up.

How to Manage Your Blinkist Subscription
Again, if you want to learn about how to get the most out of your Blinkist subscription, check out my in-depth Blinkist review.
To manage your Blinkist subscription, simply click on the “Settings” tab located on the left (for the web browser version) or the gear icon in the top right corner (for the mobile application). Here you will find some features that you can manage.
Account
In the account tab, you have all the standard features such as the ability to update your payment method, name, email address, or password.
Here you will also find your special invite link to invite one other person to your premium plan (at no cost to you or the other person). You can find this link in the “Premium Plan Sharing” section.
Hidden Feature: Wishlist
I actually found this feature by accident. If there is a book you’d like to read but it isn’t in the Blinkist Library, you can vote on what books they should Blink here: https://www.blinkist.com/en/nc/wishlist
You can scroll through the list of popular requests, or look up the book via its title or author.
Content
In the content tab, you can designate your preferred language. But there are only two options: English and German.
I’m not entirely sure why this necessitates its own tab.
Email Preferences
If you hate seeing your inbox fill up quicker than the Titanic, you might want to check out the email preferences tab. Here, you can choose which emails you’d like to receive from Blinkist.
There are quite a few:
Connected Services
Again, I’m not sure why this requires its own tab, but in this tab you can connect your Kindle account to your Blinkist account.
I have not tested this feature because I haven’t felt the need to use it. However, it appears straightforward.
How to Cancel Blinkist
If you find out that Blinkist isn’t what you wanted, you can easily cancel your Blinkist subscription.
Simply scroll to the bottom of your Account tab to find a “Cancel Your Subscription” section. Click on the link to cancel.
You’ll be asked to take a brief survey as to why you are canceling your Blinkist subscription.
If you cancel Blinkist within 14 days of your original purchase, you are entitled to a full refund. Send support@blinkist.com an email to request a refund.
Once you’ve cancelled your Blinkist subscription you do have the final option of deleting all of your data. This option is available at the very bottom of your Account tab.
